The Tips for a Manager to Handle Changes PhotoAs a team leader, a manager should be in the front line and gives encouragement to the team members when the organization needs change. Generally, the manager must show the management skill to all of the team members by showing positive behaviour during the change situations. Being watched by every team members, the manager need to be careful enough with the saying and action as it might unintentionally affect the change message.

Here are the things that the manager should do in order to make smooth transition process:

  • A manager must show the commitment. Commitment is done when there is correspondence between the words and deeds. When the manager asks for a change to the subordinates, he needs to change too in the way of his positive attitude towards the change. The manager also must show the energetic and enthusiasm in doing new things. The basic leader concept that must to follow is: “Walk the talk”. When the manager leads the change in the organization, he or she has to be the first person in the team and should take the most of the responsibility.
  • The manager should become a “cheerleader” that cheering the staffs during the change process and being optimistic. He or she must encourage the team members that everyone can achieve the goals successfully
  • The manager should arrange an immediate training sessions for the subordinates so that the can easily adopt the new changes. The subordinates must be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge during the change process. The subordinates need to be guided properly so that they can perform well. A coaching approach can be suggested to save cost. As the subordinates are human, the manager must provide some times to them to adapt with the change. Finally, the manager must not lose patience if he or she fails to see a clear result very early.

As the conclusion, it is a big challenge for the manager but it is not hardship. He or she need to act smart and use the correct tools and strategies to assist him / her. The tools can be proper communications, hand on trainings, structured meeting, and powerful presentations. If this can be used properly, then the manager will be able to go through the change process easily.
